Health Certificates & Animal Quarantine
Animal Quarantine
Please check the Hawaii Animal Quarantine Website for the most up to date information and checklists.

There are different requirements if you are
1. Traveling from the US Mainland
2. Originating in Hawaii & returning
3. Traveling from international destinations

In general, to be eligible for direct release (no quarantine stay) your pet will need to be up to date on all vaccines, have at least 2 valid, non-expired rabies vaccines at least 30 days apart and the most recent one no later than 30 days prior to arrival in Hawaii. He/she will need to have a positive Rabies titer test result (FAVN) at least 30 days prior to arrival. A health certificate & certification of a veterinarian applied tick preventative within 10 days of arrival is also needed.

*We no longer provide our house-call service to the airport and Halawa quarantine station.

Check with your Airlines
Some airlines have additional forms that need to be completed to allow your pet to fly. Please check with them directly for any special forms, requirements, letters, etc.

They will also provide you with the accepted carrier dimensions. If your pet is traveling in the cargo, remind your flight attendant and pilot that your pet is below deck so they can ensure proper environment temperatures.

Health Certificate
If traveling with your pet, we ask you to give 6 month lead time to get proper vaccinations, tests and documentations in order. A veterinarian writes a health certificate to certify that your pet appears healthy on physical exam, fit to travel and free of infectious diseases. It must be dated no more than 10 days prior to travel. Mainland & international destinations have very different requirements and timelines to complete. If coming from the Mainland US or leaving Hawaii and returning, all pets need a tick prevention applied & certified by a veterinarian within 10 days of travel. If you'd like us to write a health certificate please email us the following information for each ofyour pets prior to your appointment:
1. Patient Information (name, birthdate, sex, spayed/neutered status, breed, color, microchip number
2. Medical records showing all vaccines especially 2 most recent rabies vaccines and FAVN test results
3. Current address and destination address
4. Dates of travel (departure +/- return)

Quarantine Registration
If your pet needs to stay at the Hawaii Animal Quarantine Station for any amount of time, he/she needs to be registered at an approved veterinary hospital in the event medical care is needed. Pets eligible for direct release do not need to be registered.
The animal quarantine facility has a list of hospitals that register pets. **We currently are not registering pets
